1971 Cougar XR7 Convertible, one family owned with original documentation and keys
Exterior Pewter/Silver
There are no waves or rust and the body panels are all original . The car has never been in an accident. The body and chassis was inspected by B&T Custom Rods and Restorations in Sparks Nevada. The inspection showed that the car had never been in an accident and is rust free. The paint is excellent, no dings or chips on either side of the car, there is no body side molding. There are some small chips on the edge of the door, they have been touched up and are not noticeable. On the trunk lid, there is a small about 3/4 of an inch. This was done by an enclosed auto shipper, not happy. I touched it up but it is not an exact match. The hood is excellent. The gaps in the doors hood and trunk are very good.
Rust
The car is rust free. There is minimal surface rust on the underside of the car. The car is a very rust free example.
Stainless
All original stainless trim pieces, no repro, all stainless is in good condition.
Glass
Glass is original. I may have replace the windshield but I do not recall for sure. All glass is excellent with no scratches.
Chrome
The Cougar has all original factory chrome. The chrome is in very good condition. There are some scratches on the front bumper, would be considered normal patina. The chrome looks very good. The chrome on the Magnum 500 wheels are in excellent condition.
Trim
When I had the car painted I replaced all the rubber trim pieces and felts on the door. The rubber trim pieces are all in good shape
Brakes
Front Disc Brakes, rebuilt. Rear Drums, rebuilt
Front suspension
New bushings, upper and lower. Shocks all replaced 2 to 3 years ago

Grill
The stainless around the headlights and other grill pieces are in very good condition. The grill does not have any damage. It is pot metal and does have some imperfections.

All original date coded exhaust manifolds, carburetor, intake and other engine parts.
Interior
Black leather bucket seats, all original, 3 inch tear in a leather seam on drivers seat, ($175 for new leather panel installed) passenger seat no rips tears or worn areas, back seat original leather in good condition, no tears and rarely used. Original date coded seat belts, center console lid is good but has sun damage, should be replaced, original door panels, driver door missing door pull, put pull handle in console, passenger door in good shape no tears or problems, dash pad original and in excellent condition, wood around gages in excellent condition, all gage's work including tach, gas gage works some times and other times it does not, the console is in good condition, the shifter handle works fine but has a little slop in it, no air, Steering wheel in very good condition, no cracks, wood on spokes should be refinished, overall the dash is in very good condition.
Top
The car has had only one top on it from the time the car was built. The original top was recently removed and a new black top with a glass rear window has been installed. The hydraulic lines were replaced and the pumps inspected for leakage. The top works perfectly. The original black boot is still with the car and was rarely used. The top frame is in perfect condition..

I would say the car is a strong #3 condition. The difference is this an original car that has never been abused, it has been stored inside a heated garage, and there will be no surprises. The car has original documentation that goes with the car The car drive out great and could be taken on long drives with total confidence.
The car is in air conditioned classic car storage in Reno.
